About the New Jersey Working Families Alliance

The New Jersey Working Families Alliance was founded in 2007 by union organizers, parents, environmentalists, and ordinary New Jerseyans who want to ensure that our state and local government serve the interests of working families instead of big business. Since that time we’ve spearheaded the state’s campaign for revenue solutions that would help us create jobs and reinvest in schools, public safety and health care by asking the wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share.

But to bring about real change you need more than good ideas and grassroots organizing: you need bold leaders who know that they work for the 99%. That’s why in 2010 we launched the NJWFA Leadership Training Academy to build a new generation of progressive leaders in New Jersey. The Leadership Academy gives aspiring leaders with strong community ties and a commitment to social justice the nuts and bolts tools they need to run for office and fight for working families once they are elected.
